THE STORY

Your dreams aren't really yours. Your fears aren't either. Here's what I mean...

Everything you like or dislike, your aspirations and your fears—they're all linked to what you've experienced.

You're conditioned by your past.

And you work tirelessly to create a future that doesn't trigger too many uncomfortable emotions from that past.

I'm not just talking about trauma here, but every impression you've gathered through life.

Trauma is a big scary word that tends to be overused. You may think you don't have trauma, but you certainly have a collection of impressions.

Impressions are emotions that got stuck within your body and mind.

Either it was too hard to process, so you shoved it in a dark corner of your psyche—or it was so delightful that you clung to it, creating an attachment.

These experiences have been imprinted on you.

Your current thoughts, desires and aversions, dreams and nightmares—they all stem from those impressions.

In yoga they're called Samskaras, and the practice aims to burn them away while teaching you how not to accumulate any more.

Carl Jung said it perfectly:

❝

Until you make the unconscious conscious, it will direct your life and you will call it fate.

Here's where it gets interesting...

You might wonder what you'd become without your personal preferences and dreams.

For one, you'd be peaceful, balanced, healthy, energized—all the good stuff that comes with your body and mind working as intended.

Think of samskaras like barnacles on a ship's hull—each one slows you down imperceptibly until you're barely moving through the water. The practice scrapes them clean, restoring your natural speed.

Once you clear your samskaras, you'll process new emotions effortlessly. You'll feel what there is to feel in that moment—be it joy or sadness—and let it go.

Emotions will simply wash over you as intended by nature.

You'll enjoy every aspect of life, just like you enjoy a great movie with its emotional ups and downs, vibrant imagery, and electric score.

This can seem abstract (it sure did to me at the onset of my journey). It only becomes clear as you advance in your practice.

If your emotions tend to overtake you,

if you're constantly chasing something more,

if you often worry that things won't go according to plan—

I know how that feels.

And I'll share with you the tools to restore balance.
