You attract what you are. (PS: I'm back in Lux)

Hello friend 🙂

Haven’t heard from me in a while since I travelled to India.

It’s been an extraordinary ride since then, I’m sure you’re curious — I promise I’ll share more in the letters to come.

The major twist in the story is:

I’m back in Luxembourg

To teach and share all the good stuff I’ve gathered on my journey.

If you’re in Luxembourg, here’s what to expect:

  • Regular yoga classes blending modern science with eastern wisdom

  • Kirtan, or mantra singing circles, to use sound as a means to find inner peace

  • Workshops on Ayurveda (Indian naturopathy), voice liberation, yoga, meditation, breathwork, and more …

  • Ecstatic dance and conscious sober events

I also offer 1-to-1 therapeutic yoga programs, tailored to your unique needs, both physical, mental, and emotional.

I will share the latest information on my activities as a part of this letter.

However,

In there you’ll find specific groups to know about upcoming yoga classes, and Kirtan gatherings.

Now let’s dive into today’s topic ☺️.

You attract what you are

This may sound esoteric and woo-woo; but think about it for a minute.

If you are a party person, going out late at night and drinking alcohol — you’ll be around and meet the same kind of people.

If you practice yoga, go to holistic retreats and conscious events — you’ll meet people who like those things as well.

It makes sense, doesn’t it?

The saying that “you shape your own reality” is true here.

You have free will.

You make your own choices.

Every second of your life, you make decisions.

Now, how about making those decisions with more awareness, more consciously and intentionally?

For that you need two key elements: awareness and intention.

And they both nourish each other:

Awareness allows you to tap into your intuition and have clearer intentions.

While intention allows you to focus your energy and unlock awareness in that area.

For awareness you need:

  • Presence — being in the here and now, not lost in the past or worried about the future

  • Openness — to feel all there is to feel

  • Calmness — to see clearly and not be overwhelmed by turbulent waters

  • No expectation, judgement, or attachment — to acknowledge and accept whatever presents itself in that moment

For intention setting you need:

  • Clarity — to see where you want to be headed

  • Courage — to make a choice in that direction

  • Trust — that the choice was right and will lead you towards your aim

  • Values — as a map to shed light on your path

  • Intuition — as your inner compass to guide you and adjust course as needed

  • Strength — to have the energy to move forward into unknown territory

  • Commitment — to stay the course, even through storms

  • Focus — to direct all your energy towards your purpose, not be distracted and drift off course

How can you develop those qualities?

Yoga

When practicing yoga your focus is drawn inward and you develop your capacity to feel what is happening within you, it brings you to the present moment, and asks you to make conscious decisions along the way - it quietens the mind and prepares for breathwork and meditation

Breath

Breath is the doorway to your subconscious systems, it allows you to regulate your autonomous nervous system, to decrease your stress/anxiety response and to relax out of fight or flight mode - it prepares the body/mind for meditation

Meditation

Meditation demands you to maintain a single focus in stillness, this trains you to better focus your mind in any other occasion, to not let your thoughts overtake you, and it expands your consciousness to become aware of the more subtle aspects of your existence

Contemplation

Contemplation is an extension of meditation, directed outward as well as inward, you can practice this while walking in nature and observing everything that is happening around you with a curious mind, without expectation or judgement, away from your thoughts

Witness Consciousness

Witness consciousness is the concept of taking a step back in your mind, observing your thoughts and emotions instead of identifying with them; a feeling occurs, you feel it coming, take a breath, and watch it occurring within you - with time, the simple action of witnessing will dull the unwanted emotions, they will still happen, but they won’t overtake your behavior anymore.

Self Study

Called Svādhyāya in Sanskrit, it allows you to truly know yourself, and by doing so allows you to make decisions aligned with what you need — it’s an integral part of yoga practice (from the 8 limbs of yoga).

Here’s a side quest for you:

Can you think of something you’d like to attract in your life?

It might be a job, a place, a person, a way of life, or anything you can think of.

What are the obstacles preventing you from getting it?

How could you change your behavior, your actions, in order to better align with that thing?

Now try it :)

Funny thing about life is that it often answers your wishes in unexpected ways.

The reality you were asking for will probably look very different than in your imagination.

Be open. Stay aware.

Acknowledge the value of what is in front of you in each instant.

Be grateful for the journey that brought you here in this moment.

Of course, if you need guidance, I’m here 🙂 .

I hope to see you around, and wish you peace.

With love,

Julien
